As we head into the next year of Venture Forward, we want to give you some highlights from our program to date. We have had 100 applications to the competition with 30 advancing to the final stage of the competition and 29 companies starting. We held workshops and round table discussions with experienced business professionals and owners and provided coaches to work with the finalists through to their presentation. The competitions ended with a trade show and presentation with awards ceremony and banquet at which time $100,000 in start-up funding and in-kind sponsorship was given away.

We continue to enhance the program based on what we learn through the process and the feedback provided by all of our supporters. The two major enhancements we are making this year are:

• Expanding the workshop and events pre competition so that all potential applicants have access to information that can assist them in starting a business, even if they are not selected as a finalist.
• Expanding the Educational Partners to include all private and public educational institutions offering full time programs so that more students and alumni can be reached at an earlier stage.
• Expanding the Competition Sponsorships so that the competition can grow sustainably.
• Adding the Canadian Youth Business Foundation application process at an early stage so that all applicants can access the CYBF program regardless of their final standing in the competition.
• Adding access to a group of mentors through the Praxis School of Entrepreneurship Mentorship Program which is open to seed and start up ventures.
• Enhancing the workshops for finalists to include new topics that will help them sell their ideas to the financial markets.

We plan to continue to grow this competition and are actively seeking a major competition sponsor so we can build the competition's awareness beyond the borders of Saskatchewan. We welcome your support and involvement and look forward to working on this project with you.
